Ladies Close Home Schedule This Weekend Versus McMurry
The Centenary softball team will play its final home Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series of the season this weekend as the Ladies will face the McMurry University War Hawks beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.
Shreveport – The Centenary softball team will play its final home Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series of the season this weekend as the Ladies will face the McMurry University War Hawks beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.
The series between the Ladies (16-14, 11-9 SCAC) and War Hawks (11-12, 10-10 SCAC) will conclude on Saturday at Noon. The Ladies' senior class will be honored following Saturday's game.

The Ladies took two of three games of a league series against the Austin College 'Roos at home last weekend as they are playing their best ball of the season, winning 10 of their last 13 games. Centenary swept a doubleheader over the 'Roos on Friday by scores of 8-0 in six innings and 10-2 in five innings (both via run-rule) before falling 9-7 in the finale on Sunday.
Centenary is currently fifth in the conference standings, one game ahead of McMurry. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the SCAC Tournament.
The 2025 SCAC Softball Tournament, a double-elimination event, will be held May 2-4 on the campus of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The Ladies have made eight-consecutive SCAC Tournament appearances.
Centenary, 9-8 at home this season, has a .280 team batting average with a .361 OBP and is slugging .356 with nine home runs, 41 extra-base hits, and 287 total bases. The Ladies have scored 141 total runs and average 4.7 per game with seven games of 10+ hits. The Ladies scored a season-high 10 runs in a 10-3 win over Millsaps College on Feb. 8 at home in the second game of a season-opening DH and have scored eight+ seven times.
Senior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) continued her impressive senior season last week as she pitched a pair of complete games and went 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA highlighted by a complete-game shutout over Austin College in which she allowed just two hits and one strikeout with no walks in six innings of the Ladies' 8-0 win. Scarbock has now tossed seven CG's and three shutouts this season and is 7-5 with a 2.94 ERA in 15 appearances (11 starts). In 69.0 innings pitched, she has struck out 22 while only allowing seven walks. Scarbock is the team leader in games started, tied for first in wins, and leads in CG's and shutouts.
Senior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) is the team leader in ERA (2.38) and is also 7-5 in a team-leading 19 appearances and has made eight starts. She ranks sixth in the conference in ERA and strikeouts (59), and fifth in IP (82.1). Shepherd has also thrown four CG's. She made history on March 22 against Southwestern as she struck out 14 batters, which is the most by a Centenary pitcher in a single game in the division III era (2012-present) of the program. Shepherd went the distance and allowed one earned run and two hits in her seven innings of work. Shepherd's 14 strikeouts are the most by a SCAC pitcher in a game this season.
Senior UT Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and senior Abby Touchet (Shreveport, La.) are two of the conference's top offensive players as they are tied for seventh in the league in RBI (24). Touchet leads the team in batting average (.411), hits (37), home runs (five), and doubles (eight). In 90 AB, she has only struck out five times while drawing a team-high 15 BB and has been hit by a pitch three times. She has a .505 OBP and is slugging a team-best .667 with 12 multi-hit games which includes one 3-hit performance. Touchet has also driven in 2+ runs in game eight times with a season-high four at Ozarks on March 1.
Rivero is hitting .379 (second on team) with a .382 on-base percentage and is slugging .526. She has recorded 11 multi-hit games this season with a season-high four against Ozarks on Feb. 28. Rivero is second on the team with three home runs and has 36 hits (second on team) along with 12 runs scored and five doubles (second on team). She is 5-12 in her last four games with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Freshman LF Kaitlynn Alello (Denham Springs, La.) had an impressive week at the plate for the Ladies as she went 6-11 (.545) with a .643 on-base percentage and slugged .727. She had five RBI, two doubles, two runs, one walk, and stole one base. 5-7 with five RBI and two runs scored in the Ladies' series win over the weekend versus Austin College.
Rivero, Scarbrock, Touchet, and Brooke Sandefur (Denham Springs, La.) will be honored following Saturday's game.
