Jaron Petreas Named SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Centenary sophomore midfielder Jaron Petreas has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 14th.
Lawrenceville, Ga. - Centenary sophomore midfielder Jaron Petreas has been named the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 14th.
Petreas (Denton, Texas) had a superb night for the Gents on Saturday in their home win over Austin College, 4-2, at home to help the Maroon and White imporove to 2-0 in SCAC play. Petreas nailed a free kick over a wall of 'Roos defenders, curling the ball into the top left corner of the net for a 3-2 Centenary lead in the 75th minute. Five minutes later he struck again on another free kick to extend Centenary's lead to 4-2.
The goals were the first for Petreas of the season as he picked up four points and now has three goals in his career. Petreas took five total shots in the game, three of which were on goal, and scored on two of those. His teammate and fellow sophomore midfielder Andres Bautista (Houston, Texas) earned the same honor last week making it two weeks in a row that a Gent offensive player claimed the honor.
The Gents (2-1-1, 2-0 SCAC) will now hit the road for three matches in a row beginning with a contest at St. Thomas on Saturday, March 20 followed by matches at Colorado College (March 27) and Southwestern on April 3.
Centenary will face Schreiner on April 10 for Senior Day in their home finale and then finish the regular season at Texas Lutheran on April 17. Centenary then will serve as host for the 2021 SCAC Men's Soccer Championship on April 23 and 25 at Mayo Field.
