Gents Return To Action In West Region Invitational on Monday

The Gents will be joined by host and fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member, Southwestern University and six other teams, two of which are also SCAC schools – the University of Dallas and Trinity University. The West Region field also includes Concordia University (TX), Howard Payne University, McMurry University, and University of Northwestern – St. Paul and will be tested by a par-72, 6,567-yard layout.
The tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes with the final round on Tuesday morning. Monday's schedule calls for 18 holes followed by a final 18 on Tuesday.
The Gents completed their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, on March 21 highlighted by a third-place finish from junior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) at The Golf Club at Stonebridge. Centenary finished in eighth place at 66-over par 642 after shooting a 31-over 319 in the final round following a 35-over 323 in round one.
Senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) recorded the Gents' second-best finish (+ 19 – 163) in the Hal Sutton after shooting rounds of 84-79. Freshman Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) shot rounds of 85-81 to finish at 22-over par 166 to tie for 32nd place with junior Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.). Blair shot rounds of 78-88. Freshman Hahn Bridges (Sterlington, La.) tied for 50th place at 37-over par 181 (92-89),
Bennett continued his impressive play as he earned a runner-up finish in the Pinecrest Invitational on March 14, coming up just one shot shy of his first-career individual title. Bennett now has one runner-up, a pair of top five finishes, and five top-10 finishes in his career.
Bennett leads the Gents' lineup this week that includes Martin, Borchert, Blair, and Bridges.
