Calvin Brown enters his third year with the Centenary Football Program as the Running Backs Coach/Head of Strength and Conditioning Coach.
He helped the Centenary football program complete its historic 2024 season 4-6 overall and 4-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play as the sport returned to campus for the first time in over a half-century. Brown was part of the staff in the Fall of 2023 Independent College Season where the Gents recorded a 9-1 record in their first year back on the gridiron since the 1940’s.
Under Brown’s guidance last season, the Gents rushed for 98.2 yards per game and went for over 200 yards in a game three times and over 100 four times. Centenary rushed for a season-high 246 yards at Austin College on Sept. 21, rushed for 100+ in three-straight games during the season and the Gents scored 13 rushing touchdowns for the season.
Brown has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, and is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Brown was named the “Most Outstanding Student” for the College of Science department in 2022 at LSUS.
Brown is the former president of the LSUS Weightlifting Club, has competed over four years with USA Weightlifting at the national level, and has more than three years of experience coaching and teaching the Olympic lifts from youth to college level athletes.
He also was a Strength and Conditioning intern at LSUS and West Virginia University. Brown played high school football at Evangel Christian Academy under Centenary head football coach Byron Dawson. In 2016, Evangel won the 5A Division 1 state championship, was the top-ranked team in the state of Louisiana, and ranked and #48 in the nation by Max Preps.
